For my Computational Wind Engineering<\/strong> exam,

The plan was on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By afternoon, bags were packed.
No overthinking. No delay.
That familiar instinct after intense effort \u2014
when the mind finally quiets and the body just wants to move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got into the car and left Germany-bound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the next day, 12 August<\/strong>, we were in Dresden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, it felt like just a trip.

II. Dresden \u2014 A City That Carries Memory in Its Structures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dresden doesn\u2019t announce its history loudly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It lets you discover it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You notice it in stone that looks too clean to be ancient
and too deliberate to be new.
In churches rebuilt not to erase scars,
but to remember them correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a city that once disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1945<\/strong>, Dresden was bombed into near nonexistence.
Firestorms erased entire districts.
The Frauenkirche<\/strong> collapsed and remained a ruin for decades \u2014
a conscious decision to let absence speak.<\/p>\n\n\n

Walking through the city in 2025,
you feel restraint everywhere.
This is not a city that trusts permanence blindly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which is why the Elbe River<\/strong> matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

III. The River That Holds the City Together<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Elbe doesn\u2019t divide Dresden.
It connects it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bridges here are not just crossings \u2014
they are continuities between a city that was destroyed
and a city that chose to return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They carry more than traffic.
They carry memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So when a bridge fails in Dresden,
