many passengers were heading to Budapest for the exact same reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No agenda.
No expectations.
Just momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We landed, dropped our bags at the hostel,
and walked straight toward the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budapest greeted us calmly.
Almost indifferently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As if it knew something we didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n

II. Crossing the River Where Cities Reveal Themselves<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our first real encounter with the city happened on the Sz\u00e9chenyi L\u00e1nch\u00edd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stone beneath our feet.
Iron above our heads.
The Danube moving without concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bridges are always honest structures \u2014
they don\u2019t decorate intent, they expose it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the bridge, the city felt balanced.
Buda on one side.
Pest on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And somewhere ahead, waiting quietly,
stood the Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n

III. Seeing It in Daylight, Understanding It at Night<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In daylight, Budapest\u2019s Parliament is impressive \u2014 but restrained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up close, you notice its scale before its meaning.
The stone feels heavy, the ornament dense, the fa\u00e7ade repetitive.
It looks like what it is: a massive Neo-Gothic building, firmly planted beside a river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the day, it almost feels static.
Authoritative, yes \u2014 but emotionally distant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then night arrives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the city dims and artificial light takes control,
the Parliament sheds its ornament and reveals its structure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details dissolve.
Mass remains.
Symmetry becomes unavoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflections in the Danube double the building\u2019s presence,
turning one structure into two \u2014
one physical, one mirrored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It reminded me immediately of the Eiffel Tower<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By day, the Eiffel Tower is just steel \u2014
an exposed lattice, honest but ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By night, when light replaces detail,
it becomes intention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some structures are designed to be read in sunlight.
Others are designed to be understood in silence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budapest\u2019s Parliament belongs to the second kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And once you begin to read it structurally,
its ambition becomes undeniable.<\/p>\n\n\n

Budapest\u2019s Parliament was completed in 1904<\/strong>,
at a time when Hungary was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a political statement cast in stone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Power, here, is not just symbolic \u2014

                This building didn\u2019t teach me innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
